Garrison gold project

pdf  Kirkland Lake Map

Location

There are numerous operating gold and base metal mines in the area and much of the necessary infrastructure for mining and mineral exploration already exists. The Garrison Gold Property is located about one hundred kilometers east of the City of Timmins, Ontario, a major mining centre with a commercial airport and rail service complemented by a skilled and educated work force. Mineral exploration and discovery can be conducted year-round on the property. Access to exploration targets beneath lakes, boggy or swampy areas is easier during winter because freezing enables easy access for exploration activities such as geophysical surveys and diamond drilling.

Description

The Garrison Gold Property is located within the Abitibi Greenstone Belt, an area hosting numerous major gold deposits that has reportedly produced approximately 170 million ounces of gold as of 2008 (See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abitibi_gold_belt).The property is situated within Township of Garrison, close to the Town of Matheson, Ontario, Canada, and lies just south of paved Highway 101.  It covers an area of 374.5 hectares (approximately 925 acres), including a 2.5 kilometer portion of the Destor-Porcupine Fault System and a 1.7 kilometer portion of the Munro Fault, a splay off the Destor-Porcupine.

The Destor-Porcupine Fault System is a major crustal break extending over 300 kilometers from west of Timmins, Ontario to east of Val d’Or, Quebec through the Abitibi Greenstone Belt. It is spatially related to more than 100 gold deposits mined along the break, and its southern splay, the Cadillac Break. Gold explorers and producers in the immediate area of Garrison Gold Property include St. Andrew Goldfields with its Harker Holloway Gold Mine and Holt-McDermott mill site located only 15 kilometres to the east, and Brigus Gold’s Black Fox mine and Grey Fox exploration target found 30 kilometers to the west.

Mineralization

The Garrison Gold Property hosts several gold mineralized zones, including the Garrcon and Jonpol Deposits which are Northern Gold’s current focus. The strategy is to develop these two advanced stage gold exploration resources in order to delineate sufficient resources to enable a production decision to be made initially at the Garrcon Deposit, and later at the Jonpol Deposit. National Instrument 43-101 compliant mineral resource estimates have already been calculated for each of these deposits respectively.

Gold mineralization at the Garrcon Deposit is primarily native gold occurring in stockwork quartz carbonate veins hosted in altered and metamorphosed Timiskaming Metasediments. Gold mineralization at the Jonpol Deposit is primarily native gold hosted in quartz carbonate veins hosted in sheared, altered and metamorphosed mafic volcanic rocks. The less advanced 903 gold mineralized zone on the Property has 12 diamond drill holes containing gold mineralization similar to that encountered at the Garrcon Deposit. Drill hole spacings are too widely spaced at this point to enable calculation of a resource and 903 Zone currently remains a lower priority target for the company than either the Garrcon or the Jonpol Deposits.
